Two or three students will share a 4×5 camera to photograph the downtown sights and scenes of Denver. Sand Dunes National Park  -  May 22 and 23

The class will meet a week before on the evening of Friday, May 21, for an intro talk by Chris James on shooting at the Dunes, and for information on camping, food and travel. We meet again on Saturday morning, May 22 at 10:00, to travel down together, more or less as a convey. After an afternoon of shooting, a gourmet meal will be served, followed by night photography until…?  Participants may return to Denver anytime Sunday.  Camping gear required.  A useful tip:  since extensive walking through the Dunes is a real effort, you’ll find that using a pair of ski poles provides welcome stability and thrust.  Carry your camera and tripod in a backpack.

Abstract Nude  –  June 19

By applying wild abstraction experimentation while shooting of the one of the most traditional subjects of photography, that of the female nude form, students will create a number of intriguingly different photographs. For example, we will be shooting with open shutter in the pitch-dark studio and applying light on the subject—– including lasar scribbling, accent lights with color filters, the model dancing amongst Christmas lights, and the like. We will also be shooting outside using special lights and fireworks, a fog machine and a bubble generator.  Digital or film SLR camera required.  A tripod is necessary, and if you wish to enroll but don’t have a tripod, please let us know so we can provide you with one.

Date: Saturday, June 19, from 6pm until 10. Critique session: Friday, June 25th, 7:00pm
Instructor:  Mike Fox
Class Limit:  10 students.  Tuition: $125.   For those who have  previously taken the Abstract Nude workshop a 40% discount is offered.
