Photo 1  -  Feb. 19

A comprehensive and intensive introduction to traditional black and white film photography. How does a camera work? What is light and lighting? How to take really good photographs? These questions are the basis of this course. The class also spends considerable time in the darkroom to learn how to develop film and how to make photographic enlargements.
At the end of class, you will end up with several great photographs that you’ll rightfully be proud of. A 35mm film SLR camera is required.

Dates:  Four Friday evenings, 6-9, starting Feb. 19, then again on Feb. 26, March 5th and 12.

Class limit: 10 students
Instructor: Standish Lawder
Tuition: $225

Photo 2  -  April 6

As you’ll discover here, there’s lots more to learn about photography. In Photo 2 you will learn advanced camera and darkroom techniques, as well as night shooting, studio work, and how to use a large format camera.  But most importantly, the focus of this class is in the training of your own eye, for what is behind the camera is more important than what is in front of it. With drive and determination, you will finish this class with an impressive body of work of your own signature style.  A good 35mm SLR camera is necessary, and a tripod is highly recommended.  Successful completion of Photo 1 or permission of the instructor is required.

Dates:  Starting Tuesday evening, 6-9, April 6, then on April 13, 20 and 27.
Class limit: 8 students
Instructor: Standish Lawder
Tuition: $195
