What does it take to move into the real world of photography and add creative control, impact, and quality to your images? Foto I is the perfect way to find out.
This class is the first of a three class series designed to take you from the very beginning of photography to becoming an accomplished photographer and creator of fine art photographic prints. While these classes are designed to be taken in succession, you can start taking most of our workshops once you have completed this course.
Foto 1 covers the basics of camera operation, picture composure, and an introduction to darkroom work. You will learn how depth of field, f-stops, shutter speed, and film speed are all interrelated to create a good photograph.
The second day of class you will walk you thru developing your own film and making a contact sheet. You will continue in the darkroom on the third class as you learn to make enlargements and enhance them with dodging and burning, contrast control and other print manipulation.
The class will wrap up with an in-studio model shoot, followed by a wine and cheese critique of the work you and your classmates produce.
This is the "ah ha" course where you glimpse the exciting art of photography. Wether you choose to use your own film camera or check out one from the darkroom, this class is guaranteed to make you a better photographer even if don't go any further. It's also a great review class if it's been a while. This class runs one afternoon or evening for 4 weeks. Six weeks of Darkroom time is also included in the class price! Class Limit: 10 people
